Saudia Zamzam Water Allowance (2026 Rules)
✓ Checked: 4 July 2026 against Saudi airport & airline sources · Rules change — always confirm at check-in
The Saudia Zamzam rule, point by point
- Quantity: 1 × 5-litre sealed container per passenger — FREE + EXTRA, on top of your checked allowance
- Airports: Jeddah (KAIA) and Madinah (Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz) departures
- Container: only the factory-sealed container from the official King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Zamzam Project counters — hotel-filled bottles and loose cans are refused at check-in
- Where it travels: checked baggage, tagged separately — never in cabin baggage (the 100 ml liquid rule applies worldwide)
- Family rule: per passenger — a family of five checks in five containers free
Where to buy Zamzam for your Saudia flight (and what it costs)
Don't carry loose Zamzam from Makkah. At both airports Saudia flies from, the official Zamzam Project counters sell the airline-approved container:
| Airport | Where | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Jeddah — King Abdulaziz International (KAIA) | Official Zamzam counters near the check-in halls (signposted) | ≈ SAR 12.50 |
| Madinah — Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz | Zamzam sales point in the departures area | ≈ SAR 12.50 |
In Hajj season, counters get long queues — reach the airport 30 minutes earlier than usual.
The container comes shrink-wrapped with a carrying handle, printed seal, and airline-recognised packaging. At the Saudia check-in counter, staff tag it as your free additional piece — no forms, no fee.
Saudia's cabin baggage bonus for pilgrims
One more reason pilgrims like Saudia: its cabin allowance (56 × 45 × 25 cm, 7 kg as per SafarCheck's July 2026 check) is the roomiest width on the India–Gulf–Saudi corridor — helpful for carrying prayer mats, Ihram bags and dates boxes on board. Zamzam still can't fly in the cabin, but your other Umrah essentials get more space. Check whether your cabin bag fits Saudia — and 13 other airlines — with the free SafarCheck bag checker.
Connecting home beyond your Saudia flight?
Many pilgrims fly Saudia to a hub and connect onward (Jeddah → Mumbai → hometown, or Jeddah → Dubai → onward). The rule of thumb:
- One ticket, bags checked through: your tagged Zamzam piece is normally carried to the final destination — Saudia's tag rides the whole journey.
- Separate tickets: at the transfer point you re-check bags, and the next airline's Zamzam rules apply fresh — check that airline's policy in our full airline table before booking. (Example: connecting onward on IndiGo means the container now counts inside your IndiGo allowance.)
How Saudia compares

| flynas | NOT accepted from Jeddah (Taif/Madinah: free extra) |
